Fish and chips is a hot dish consisting of fried fish in batter, served with chips. The dish originated in England, where these two components had been introduced from separate immigrant cultures; it is not known who combined them.

Alongside protein, both fish and chips contain a high amount of iron and fibre. Food that is high in both of these elements contribute to overall well-being, ensuring your body receives essential nutrients for the ultimate healthy body.

Fish: Cod, pollock, haddock, catfish, perch, or mahi-mahi will all work in this recipe. I prefer fresh, thick cuts. If you use frozen, make sure it is completely thawed. Beer: Club soda or sparkling water can be substituted, but beer adds a much richer flavor to the batter.

The fish. Traditionally, cod, haddock, or (rarely) flounder are used to make fish and chips. Of these, cod is by far the most popular. Other fish with white meat can be used as well, for example whiting or plaice.

A meal or two of fish and chips isn't bad for you. It will have more calories than the same foods that were either baked or broiled or grilled, but that doesn't qualify it as junk. It only means that you should reserve it for an occasional treat, instead of making it a daily meal.
